Today’s update will cover the time period from April 8 – 20th. I’ll be in Ecuador with Christopher celebrating his birthday and exploring a beautiful country. This month may we all find new territory to explore and inspire us.
April is full of new opportunity and the energy of growth asking us to stretch ourselves. The soil of our lives is ripe, fertile, and receptive to the seeds we decide to plant. Like a magician in the garden, whatever we decide to give our attention and energy to will take off like a young sprout in the springtime sun after having fed on the rains. This is a time to consider what we really want to have more of in our lives while at the same time keeping a sharp eye for the inner weeds that can choke out the new young growth needing loving nurture. This next two weeks is a good time to reconsider what you’ve always planted and grown believing it to be somehow essential or comforting to your well-being. Perhaps that comfort has over time moved into dependency and addiction on old ways that don’t really move you forward any longer and sap your sense of vitality. What if you didn’t plant any of that at all and instead used the room and energy to plant something new that may be a bit risky but also promises a new kind of nourishment? Trying new things, seeing things in a new light. It may feel scary or thrilling or make you feel a bit insecure but being out in nature, grounding yourself in the soil or in the cycles of the seasons, reaching out and sharing yourself with those around you will help bring calm and reassurance. At this time we are all on the path of initiation. The Magician waves her wand and dreams us awake.
In April we are being constantly presented with the ways we have sought to bring abundance and increase into our lives. This is a good month to tune deeply into changes we need to make. We can come into better alignment with our inner sense of values and who we are without regard to outside forces. If we continue to go down old pathways that no longer work for us we’re bound to keep hitting our heads on the low overgrown branches until finally we turn off the rutted pathway and on to a shining new one. This is a month to take steps that move us out of the small “I” of ego and into the greater realm of oneness with all things.
The month brings an abundance of choices. Choices of competition or cooperation, listening to our own inner voice or to the outside dictates and propaganda of others, desperately holding onto the past or kissing it a blessed goodbye, being responsible with our emotions or letting them rule our actions, and need for control or the gentle releasing of it. The reverent and thoughtful ways we approach these choices in our lives, the quality of our intention, or the lack thereof will make all the difference in the quality of replenishment we bring up from deep within the well of our beings. Be gentle and loving with yourselves but resolute. Forgive the perceived mis-steps while keeping your eyes on the direction you want to go. Embrace what life brings you. It’s a message from your higher self about what to focus on and discern with as little negative self-judgment as possible. Share your perceptions and experiences with those around you. Let go of proving the other guy wrong and yourself right. Give as well as you receive, receive as greatly as you give. Acknowledge your fears, try to find the humor in them, and release them into love of the amazing journey we are all on at this time on earth. You may feel as though you are the only inexperienced one and everyone else around you seems to know what they are doing but truly we are all bozos on this bus. While noticing the stories that swirl around you let yourself be the calm center that doesn’t get blown off course. All the while tend your garden with joy. Bless the sun. Bless the rain. Bless the wind. Bless the night. Bless your self.
Continuing from the beginning of the month Uranus in Gate/Hexagram 25 of Innocence is making a connection with Jupiter in Gate/Hexagram 51 of Shock guiding us along the shamanic journey to greater authenticity and inner self-alignment through shake-up and wake-up. This continues until April 28th.
April 9th Neptune swims into the first Pisces and joins Chiron in Gate/Hexagram 55 of Abundance. We can make the seas stormy with waves of melodrama, illusion, victimhood, foolhardy risk-taking, and escapism. We can also choose to swim deep and blissfully with spirit in compassionate connection with each other feeling the divinely inspired creativity and basking in our natural abundance. Also on April 9th Pluto turns retrograde asking us to go within to find Joyful Vitality.
April 10th through 14th Venus will bestow her receptive blessing in Gate/Hexagram 22 of Grace while connecting with the South Node of the Moon in Gate/Hexagram 12 of Standstill. Watch for inertia and the desire to remain frozen in time. Messages and people from the past combine with feelings of nostalgia. While revisiting the past remember, if you are tempted to point a finger, the other three are pointing back at you. Nothing remains the same no matter how good it feels in the moment. Venus in Pisces, like the fish, needs to keep moving to keep breathing. Move on.
April 18th brings a full Moon with the Moon in Libra while the Sun is opposite in Aries. The Sabian Image for the Sun is “A large disappointed audience” while the image for the Moon is “A man in the midst of brightening influences”. It seems it’s all about perception. We can focus outwardly on our disappointments and cast blame or choose inner reflection on how in each moment we are always being supported by vast, unseen forces that urge us into the light. In this world it is easy to feel as though we are victims with no influence or voice but the most influential thing we can do is to change our perceptions and become transmitters of love rather than fear. When enough of us do that at the same time the world can change in the blink of an eye.
April 9 & 10 the Sun finishes up with it’s journey of conjunction with Jupiter in Gate/Hexagram 51 of Shock while the Earth is opposite in greatly intuitive and receptive Gate/Hexagram 57 The Gentle. From the 11th through the 16th it is traveling the Sacral chakra in Gate/Hexagram 42 of Increase while the Earth continues to travel through the Spleen in Gate/Hexagram 32 of Duration(and change). From the 17th through the 21st the Sun moves over in the Sacral to Gate/Hexagram 3 of Difficulty at the Beginning while the Earth, still in the receptive, intuitive Spleen moves into Gate/Hexagram 50 of the Cauldron of Values.
Mercury continues it’s retrograde journey of rethinking and reframes in Gate/Hexagram 51 of Shock making conjunctions with first the Sun on the 9th and then Jupiter on the 12th. On April 16th it enters Gate/Hexagram 21 of Biting Through or Control and makes it’s retrograde conjunction with Mars on the 19th in the exact same place as the April 3rd New Moon touching off a reprise of the New Moon energy and opposed by Saturn. It’s very likely things that got off the ground at the April New Moon get an adjustment at this time. A reality check arrives and the question is correct course, continue forward, or come to a complete halt.
Venus moves through the Ajna(mind) Gate/Hexagram of Completion on the 8-9th, the Solar Plexus(emotions) Grace from the 10th through the 14th, and The Darkening of the light or Crisis from the 15 through the 19th
Mars initiates action in the Ajna center in Gate/Hexagram 17 of Following(opinions) through the 13th then moves into the Heart in Gate/Hexagram 21 of Biting Through or Control through April 21.
The Garden Helpers:
Jupiter(fertilization and growth) continues his energy-magnifying trip through the Heart in the upper lines of Gate/Hexagram 51 of Shock
Saturn(restructuring and maintenance) continues her retrograde inward meditation in the Spleen deep in Gate/Hexagram 48 of the Well. The quality of what we draw up from the well is all about the intention we set and the manner in which we approach it.
Chiron(zen gardener) continues his teaching trip through Gate/Hexagram 55 of Abundance. He smiles as we glory in our natural abundance and the grace of our timing and creeps up behind us ready to smack our head with his stick when we decide to take unnecessary risks simply for the thrill of it.
Uranus(renovation) continues to encourage us all from Gate/Hexagram 25 of Innocence in the Self chakra to be our most authentic selves in every moment and with every heartbeat.
Neptune(landscaping) moves into Gate/Hexagram 55 of Abundance on April 9th. “There are all kinds of abundance, including one that is independent of externals that is only known by tapping in to the inexhaustible source of riches within your own being. It enables us to be hearty and warm with a “yes” to supporting others yet maintains a centered self-respect that withdraws whenever it is needed, in order to be restored by silence, in nature, and in aloneness. A sense of well-being is the ultimate richness, and it starts where you are; it requires responsiveness to the unfolding moment whatever the moment is offering, and it begins with being abundantly loving of yourself. Abundantly honoring your own being supports wholesomeness, self-respect, and a sense of self-worth. You always have the choice to to stay small or to think abundant.” from Ma Deva Padma, TAO oracle
Pluto(weeding and tilling) stations retrograde on April 9th in the Root chakra in Gate/Hexagram 58 of Joyful Vitality. Time to begin a 5 month inner quest for happiness.
